Calvert School is an independent elementary school for boys and girls situated in Roland Park, a northern residential neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland near John Hopkins University and Loyola College.
For over a century, we have been providing an excellent day-school education for children in the Baltimore area, while offering our program to English-speaking children around the world through our Home Instruction Department. At the center of the Calvert curriculum is an approach to learning that over the years has become our hallmark: Train a child early and well. At Calvert we believe that the early years of a child's life are critical to his or her future success.
Through our Day School and Home Instruction, we prepare children for secondary school and for a lifetime of learning by helping them master the academic basics, while building an appetite for learning and an awareness of the richness and diversity of the world around them. The Home Instruction Department is a valuable resource unique to Calvert School. The home study courses are based on the same curriculum as the Day School program. This not only means that our program is clearly defined but also that we review, update, and improve it, constantly evaluating what we teach and how we teach it.
Calvert School is incorporated as a non-profit institution and is internationally recognized as an independent school. Both the Day School and the Home Instruction Department are fully approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. The school is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS), and the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). The Day School is accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools and Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The Home Instruction Department is also accredited by the Commission on International and Transregional Accreditation (CITA). Calvert is the first home school curricula to receive CITA certification. |
